Filmmaking Workshops Rolling Out Across Scotland as the FilmG Entry Deadline Approaches
Aspiring filmmakers across the country are busy as FilmG, Scotland’s national Gaelic short film competition, approaches its submission deadline of 9th December. With separate competitions for those under 18 and over 18, FilmG continues to inspire a new generation of storytellers, paving the way to exciting opportunities within the Gaelic media landscape.
In the lead-up to this year’s competition deadline, the FilmG team is delivering an impressive series of almost 40 filmmaking workshops across Scotland.
In the Western Isles, six workshops are scheduled, while An Lanntair in Stornoway is working with Comunn na Gàidhlig to host its own workshop at the end of November. The Highlands region will see the most activity, with 17 workshops taking place, and four more are set for Argyll & Bute. A further 12 workshops are happening in other areas, ensuring filmmakers across the country have access to hands-on training and resources to bring their stories to life.
FilmG is open to participants of all skill levels, offering a platform to cultivate Gaelic talent and showcase their films to audiences across Scotland and beyond. Those interested in submitting their own film, whether fiction, documentary, or animation, are encouraged to get in touch with the FilmG team if they want help or assistance.
FilmG Project Manager, Sarah Urquhart, said: “There is still plenty of time to enter, with most of the activity for FilmG happening in November and early December. Some winning films from previous years have even been created in just one day, so get in touch and we can help you make it happen!”
FilmG entries must be in the Gaelic language and must be no longer than five minutes in duration. For more information on FilmG and to submit your film, visit www.FilmG.co.uk or follow on social media for updates or to message the team.
