COLLECTING INFORMATION VIA OUR WEBSITE

We collect information via our website through:

GENERAL VISITS

When someone visits www.filmg.co.uk we collect some standard information. This includes your language preference so that you are automatically directed to the English or Gaelic site without having to make this decision each time you visit the site. We also collect details of visitor behaviour using Google Analytics to find out things such as the number of hits to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We can not associate any of the data gathered with its source (you). This data is connected using cookies – for more information on our cookie policy visit our cookie page.

NEWS UPDATES

On our homepage we have a panel where you can sign up for regular updates. For this we require your name and email address. Once this information is submitted it is entered into our ‘news updates’ database. We use this to send out press releases throughout the competition and general information about FilmG (our newsletter). These names and email addresses are not supplied to any third party (such as MG ALBA and others) and will be deleted when the competition has reached its conclusion. You can ask to be removed from these updates by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email update/newsletter or by emailing us at filmg@astarmedia.scot.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE COMPETITION

Each year part of the FilmG competition includes a people’s choice vote. Visitors to the FilmG website can view any film and vote for it. Visitors can vote for as many films as they like, but only vote for the same film once. We record the IP of the computer used to cast each vote, as well as storing a voting cookie on your machine. This is done strictly to ensure the fairness of the voting, and we do not use the recorded IP addresses for any other purpose.

COMPETITION ENTRIES

When you enter a film into the FilmG competition, you are asked to provide your details via an electronic or paper form. You can see an example of the form here. This is standard information that we require for the competition. We keep a paper copy of this form as well as a digital database of all entries. This information will be kept until the conclusion of FilmG and may be shared with our partners (MG ALBA/HIE or others) if they wish to show your film on another platform (TV/ their own website). Your name will appear on the FilmG website alongside your film and it is planned that these films will remain online indefinitely in order to maintain a collection of Gaelic films on the web. It is important that you read our rules before you enter the competition and that you are aware of how your personal information will be used.

For those entering the competition under the age of 16, we require parental consent and a ‘release form’ can be downloaded from the website. All school pupils who participate in a film must submit these forms with their entry.

TRAINING DATABASE

ADULT TRAINING

FilmG holds a number of training workshops throughout the year where the personal details (name & email address) of those attending are collected. This information is kept in our ‘training database’ and updates are sent to these people regarding any follow-up workshops or training opportunities as well as to send a reminder to them when the competition is closing. This information is also used to show additional funders how many people attended the workshops. You can ask to be removed from this database by emailing us at filmg@astarmedia.scot.

SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

We also visit a number of schools to undertake workshops with school pupils. We keep the name of the school and the key contact at that school (usually the Gaelic teacher) and their work phone number in our training database.

ACCESS TO/REMOVAL OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you wish to enquire about accessing your personal information, have any questions relating to this Privacy Policy, or wish to have your personal details amended or removed from FilmG’s database, please contact us via filmg@astarmedia.scot.

If you are under 16, please seek parental consent before providing personal details to FilmG, even for email enquiries.

This privacy policy was drafted with brevity and clarity in mind. It does not provide exhaustive details regarding FilmG’s collection and use of personal information. We are however, happy to provide further additional information if required and any requests should be sent to the address below:
