Rugadh agus thogadh an Dr Tormod Moireasdan, (1869-1949), air a’ Ghearra Bhuidhe ann an Siabost a Tuath. Sgrìobh e grunn leabhraichean air eachdraidh ionadail, beul-aithris, ainmh-eòlas agus poilitigs. Mar as aithne dhuinn mar cho-stèidheadair Caidreachas Poileas na h-Alba. O chionn ghoirid, chaidh dealbhan iongantach a lorg a thog e air muinntir Shiaboist. Bha e cuideachd uabhasach measail air nathraichean.
Dr Norman Morrison, (1869-1949), was born and raised on the Gearra Buidhe in North Shawbost. He wrote several books on local history, folklore, zoology and politics. Best known as a co-founder of the Scottish Police Federation it has been more recently discovered that he was also a remarkable photographer who has left us a valuable series of Shawbost portraits.
